FinLit · Effective July 13, 2026
FinLit ("FinLit," "we," "us") is a gamified financial-literacy education app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how you can control or delete it.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Contact info: your email address.
- Profile info: the first name and last initial you provide.
- Authentication data: if you sign up with Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email Apple/Google share with us to create your account. We never see or store your Apple or Google password.
- App activity: your lesson progress, quiz answers, XP, streaks, badges, and in-app coin balance — all generated by using the app.
- Investing simulator data: your activity in the investing game (trades, portfolio value). This is entirely simulated — no real money, brokerage account, or real market data is involved.
- Budgeting and savings data: if you use the Budget Builder or Savings Goals tools, the monthly income, spending categories, and savings targets you choose to enter. These are self-reported figures you provide for your own planning — we don't retrieve them from, or connect them to, any real bank or brokerage account.
- Social features: if you add friends or appear on a leaderboard, your display name, level, and streak are visible to other users you connect with.
- Push notification token: only if you enable notifications, so we can send you lesson reminders.
What we don't do
- We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't show ads.
- We don't access your camera, photos, contacts, or location.
- We don't link to, access, or pull data from any real bank or brokerage account. The investing feature is a game with simulated money; any income, budget, or savings figures you enter into the Budget Builder or Savings Goals tools are typed in by you, not retrieved from a real account.
- We don't sell your personal information.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to operate the app: to authenticate you, save and sync your progress, power the social and leaderboard features you choose to use, and — if you opt in — send local or push reminders about your learning streak.
How we store and protect your information
Your data is stored with Supabase, our backend infrastructure provider, which acts on our behalf and does not use your data for its own purposes. Passwords are handled entirely by our authentication provider and are never visible to us in plain text. On your device, your session is encrypted and stored in your device's secure keychain.
Your choices
- Delete your account: at any time, from Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and associated data and cannot be undone.
- Notifications: you can disable reminders at any time in your device's notification settings.
- Access or questions: email us (below) to ask what data we hold about you or to request a correction.
Children's privacy
FinLit is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
